Starting the course
Guardium is for frequent heartburn sufferers. Start treatment if you have experienced heartburn twice a week or more in the past 4 weeks.
During the course
Take one tablet a day for up to two weeks for 24 hour protection from frequent heartburn and acid reflux. One pill gets to work in 1 hour but may take 2-3 days for full effect.
To supplement
Guardium can take up to three days to reach it's full effect. Supplementing with Gaviscon advance can help you manage your symptoms.
How does it work?
Guardium blocks the acid pumps in your stomach, making the stomach less acidic, consequently reducing your acid reflux & heartburn symptoms.
What does it contain?
Esomeprazole is the active ingredient in Guardium. Esomeprazole is a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) which reduces stomach acid production, therefore leading to a lower prevelance of reflux & regurgitation.
Follow up
Refer to a GP if there is no symptom relief obtained with two weeks continuous treatment.
